The historic city of York:

Acorn Glade is approx 10 miles from the historic Roman, Norman & Medieval City of York (with the York Minster, Cliffords Tower, Castle Museum, National Railway Museum, Yorvik Centre & the Shambles).

Melbourne: Our village is located on the fringes of the Vale of York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Acorn Glade is only a short walk (0.5 miles away). It has a Village Store and our local pub called The Melbourne Arms, serves traditional pub food and beer.

The Wolds Gliding Club:

Only 5 miles from us and is regarded as not only being one of the premier gliding clubs in the North, but also one of the top sites in the UK. Visitor flying is available all year round. Click <here> for more info.

York & Beverley Races:

We are approx 30 mins away from York Racecourse, the UK's third largest horse racing venue.

Beautiful Beverley:

This is a real hidden gem (described as a mini-York) and a firm favourite with our guests. Beverley is ideally located 30 minutes from us with its Minster, Saturday market, plus great array of shops & restaurants.

Our surrounding Area:

Allerthorpe Lakes & Woods:

For outdoor pursuits why not head for Allerthorpe Lakes is set in 53 acres with a cafe and only 2 miles from us. Alternatively stroll through the nearby Allerthorpe Woods & Country Park (a SSSI).

Castle Howard

This beautiful old stately home is only 25 miles north of York. It is a private residence of the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for over 300 years. It was the set for the 1980's drama series Brideshead Revisited.

The maritime city of Hull:

We are less than an hour from the rejuventated city of Hull (the former UK City of Culture). Wonder around the Marina or the Old Town, steeped in maritime history or visit The Deep famous aquarium with 3,500 fish.

Pocklington: Our nearest town is located only 6 miles away with a small Tuesday market. Enjoy a range of unique shops, pubs and good restaurants. Supermarkets such as Sainsburys & Aldi are here, along with famous Burnby Hall Gardens.

Yorkshire Air Museum:

TheYorkshire Air Museum and the famous York Maze are located near Elvington and only 6 miles from us, together with the quintessential and picturesque villages of Elvington and Sutton-upon-Derwent.

The East Yorkshire Coast:

Historic English seaside towns are within easy reach of us. Beautiful Bridlington, fabulous Filey, Bempton Cliffs & Flamborough Head. Further afield visit elegant Scarborough & pictureque Whitby.
